Here and Now

If you’re into Pat Martino then you’ll probably want to read this.

What I was most amazed by (except for the whole re-learning Guitar after a brain aneurysm thing) was how much he was playing. He did seven 40 minute sets at some jazz clubs, starting in the morning and going into the evening. Imagine the chops you build.

My favourite part was when someone dropped him off at the hotel at 4AM after a gig. When they picked him up in the morning, he was in the same spot still playing his guitar. That’s love, baby.

There is a documentary on YouTube which lays out the same thing more or less (here) but you get less of Pat’s perspective.
